It's been four weeks, four weeks since the 'destroyers' have been unleashed on the world.
Interesting name for creatures so minute they couldn't be seen with the human eyes, only through specialized microscopes enhanced with one of the rarest earth metals in the world.
They were an anomaly, misfits if you will. They baffled even the greatest minds and have brought nobel prize scientist to stuttering idiots.
These destroyers were small but the amazing thing was that they lived in clusters and they are airborne. Once together, they become bio-luminous and gave off a spark that has a keen similarity to a falling star.
Arya and her little brother Sam were the only living survivors in their small town Minnesota. The rest of the inhabitants, her family...have been reduced to dust.
That was what you turned into if those anomalies ever came a feet close to you.
Those bastards were sneaky. Most times they don't move in colonies which makes them even harder to detect. That was why a lot of innocent people died— including her family.
The U.S government, as expected, tried to create a cure—you know how proud they get, thinking they have all the answers—they were no closer to a cure than they were to discovering the origin of the Universe.
Now the billion dollar question was, "Why was she and her brother still alive?"
It turned out those 'things' can be denatured by flour, that's right, FLOUR.
But that is before they form clusters.
Now the problem was, they are microscopic and can't be seen with the naked eye, so it is almost impossible to detect when they're in the atmosphere. It's like a sick twisted game of 'hide and seek.'
"Arya, " she could hear her little brother of four whine from inside their home, well fortified with flour. They'd put it everywhere; the window sills, the floor, the furniture—everywhere.
She sighed and looked down at the desolate roads flooded with streetlights.
She desperately wanted things to go back to the way they used to, but she knew it was wishful thinking.
The human man race had brought this upon themselves—yet again.
Time and time again, you choose to defy the word of God now look what it's cost mankind.
This was worse than hell, but it'd become her reality.
She heard tiny footsteps run towards her.
She rolled her eyes knowing it was her younger brother.
She turned to see his grinning face, his upper teeth were almost completely gone.
"What's the matter, Sam?"
He was bouncing on his toes, the grin still on his face.
"The stars look so cool." He yelled as he excitedly pulled her to the back porch, surprisingly strong for someone so small.
She gasped when she saw the sky, fear taking hold.
"Those aren't stars Sam."
